Sun Night Solar, our new alternative energy system.

Approximately one third of the world´s population lacks affordable access to a safe, reliable, and efficient source of illumination after sundown. Villagers in developing countries resort to burning wood and coal for light, which emit poisouns gasses that are associated with the death of 1.6 million per year or one person every 20 seconds (World Health Organization).

Developing countries will cause the greatest increase in greenhouse gas emissions, which will have critical consequences on or enviroment. Improperly disposing of batteries that are currently used to power lights and radios is a major cause of mercury toxicity in food sources such as fish (Environmental Protection Agency). While using every bit of daylight for agricultural chores, many people remain illiterate. With total darkness at night, occurances of rape and sexual assault increase causing a rapid increase in the spread of HIV.

Efforts to address this issue by either private or public organizations have been mostly ineffective. This is due primarily to high costs in trying to deploy complex systems, or by failing to work within the constraints and realities of the third world.

To employ recent improvements in the solar energy and lighting industries to address the energy-related issues of developing countries.

In both households and economics, the ENERGY ladder follows and influences the ECONOMIC ladder. Attemps to alleviate poverty and to promote rural economic development and food security must be accompanied with effors to promote the key role of energy, not simply as a goal in itself but as a vital component of these attemps (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations)

Alternative power options have not evolved much over the past century, and are often too expensive or complex yo implement. As a result, too many people still rely on kerosene lanters, candles, and conventional flashlights. These are inefficient, often expensive in relation to local income, and have a number of other drawbacks as well.

Sun Night Solar has developed a low cost reliable solution for the rural or distant areas,
A solar power system with lightweight solar panels plugged inside the house for general illumination and a portable task light. The whole system runs on economical batteries that will last two years without replacement, it is constructed of durable material, which allows them to work in a variety of climates and temperatures.

This modular system with inexpensive replaceable components is a highly cost-effective, reliable source of light for those in need in the developing world.
